Adding a User

Linux is a multi-user system and this means that each user may have his or her own settings and files. But, in contrast to the root user, regular users may only change their own settings and manipulate only the files they own. It is necessary to set up at least one regular user for yourself, because regular work should be done with regular user privileges.

When a user is being added, it is suggested to enter his or her real name. This certainly is not mandatory: you may enter anything you like as a "real" name. Then you should specify a name that a user will enter when logging on to the system. By default, this is the first word of the "real" name. Finally, the user's password needs to be entered twice. After this, the «Add User» button should be pressed. This operation needs to be repeated for each of the users, and then the «Finished» button should be pressed.

By pressing the «Advanced» button, you can change the command shell for a particular user.
