X Window System Configuration

X (X Window System) is the foundation of the graphical interface of Linux, on which all the graphical user environments, such as KDE, WindowMaker and many others, are based. DrakX attempts to set up X automatically.

In rare cases it fails to do so, which usually happens if the operating system is installed on very old, or, on the contrary, very new, hardware. If setup is successful, X will be launched automatically with the best resolution available, depending on the diagonal dimension of the visible part of the screen. You should confirm that X is functioning correctly with the selected parameters in the next window that appears.

It is possible that you may not be able to choose a set of parameters that ensures the display characteristics you need right away, but the program will ask if the chosen configuration satisfies you, and, if not, it will give you a chance to change it.

In the worst case, it is possible to choose another graphical card type by selecting “Unlisted card” from the list and by answering FBDev to the question about which server you prefer.

And finally, you must specify whether you want to enter the graphical interface automatically as soon as the system is loaded.
